This was information that was not supplied beforehand. Naturally this meant that the mounting holes were useless. I drilled the required holes to accomodate my cabinet. the product looks wonderful and is properly built. I don't have a duct leading outside the residence so i followed the instructions to recirculate the air into the kitchen. Spend the added $100 or so and get the next level up. We have installed the hood 3 weeks ago by ourselves. The vent duct we installed is vertical, goes via kitchen cabinet, attic and roof (We got the hood at Lowes, but vent duct, roof cap, flash had been from Homedepot). The instruction is clear, easily to follow. I and my wife are incredibly pleased. All odors after cooking now are gone. Pros: This is actually a good product. Looks incredibly sleek with 4 fan speeds: 3 initially speed (up to 300cfm) was quiet, the Increase speed - 430cfm is really a bit noisy, but that is ok. Air King QZ2308 Quiet Zone Under Cabinet Range Hood, 30 Inch Wide, Stainless Steel Product Review

Nicely designed hood but they must function on excellent control. The sheetmetal plenum that the fan sits in was spotwelded slightly off center so the fan rubbed and produced a racket when I initially installed it. Being an engineer I am inclined to fix things myself and was able to modify the motor bracket to shift the fan over a bit to clear. I know 99% of individuals would not have completed this but hopefully I just got the 1 hood that slipped via QC (if they did any). The sad portion about this is that this hood is really produced inside the USA...I would have expected this sort of good quality difficulty from an offshore manufacturer! Would have almost certainly given 5 stars if the housing had not been welded improperly as it is actually otherwise a fantastic hood.

One the hood was fixed it does run well, is pretty quiet (some whine from the motor at low speed) and produces a hurricane at high speed. Wish the front vent for ductless operation angled the airflow up a bit so it didn't blow within your face if you are standing in front of the range.
