This range hood was to replace a fifty year old 42" range hood. I discovered that no local sources would stock a 42" range hood. Many told me that no one really made that size any much more. I identified on-line that practically all producers produced that size. I my search I identified that NuTone and Broan had just what I was searching for. (The old one was a NuTone.) It would have been nice to know that for the installation direct by way of the wall to the outside that an adaptor could be necessary to connect towards the outdoor damper. Thankfully the old unit did have the adapter as well as the new hood had a series of holes to ensure that I could adjust the position considering that the original builder of the residence did not center the hole via the wall. Otherwise the installation manual is extremely complete and understandable. I think that the models coming on the market that will replace the Allure models will have more efficient lights like LED or Compact Fourescent lamps. This was a very very good acquire.
