This range hood is great looking and draws nicely. It is as quiet as advertised when operating on the lowest setting, but is fairly loud when running full blast. The lowest speed doesn't open the back draft flap on the external ducted vent on the outside wall, but the higher ones do. Preparation for installation needs a fair quantity of assembly of the internal parts, one of which is a piece of plastic to block the exhaust towards the room when an external duct and vent are employed. (It may be employed without external venting, using the air just going by means of the filter and back in to the room.) Either this piece is not tight sufficient, or there are other air leaks, simply because some air is vented towards the room anyway. I program to disassemble the unit and tape up as a lot of internal leak sources as I can locate, such as the vent to the room in hopes of reducing this leakage. (Read More...)
